In Mikkyo traditions, the term nyorai is used to refer to a Buddha - of which there are many.

Yakushi Nyorai - Lord of the Eastern Pure Land - grants practical benefits in this present life (rather than in a future life).

Yakushi, the nyorai of Healing, brings comfort by curing illness - both mental and physical - and as such, is a focus of meditation for many Te-Ate practitioners.

With his right hand Yakushi dispells fear, and bestows healing, protection, benevolence, and peace.

In his left hand he holds a medicine jar of pure emerald, the radiance from which cures illness of body and mind - hence his other name: Yakushi Ruriko Nyorai, the nyorai of Emerald Radiance.
