The
'REIKI RYOHO NO SHIORI'
[April 2015]

Reiki Ryoho No Shiori

The Reiki Ryoho No Shiori ('Reiki Ryoho Guidebook') is a small volume, purportedly compiled in the 1970's by the then 'Kaicho' (President / Chairman) of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, Houichi Wanami, and Kimiko Koyama (who would apparently later replace Wanami as Kaicho).

It is said that the guidebook is given to all new members of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai.

Amongst other things, the Reiki Ryoho No Shiori briefly covers the history & purpose of the Gakkai, and sets out its administrative system. It outlines the characteristics of Reiki Ryoho, it discusses the Five Principles, deals with the how to strengthen Reiki, & includes a number of techniques such as: koketsu ho, byosen, nentatsu ho, etc.

___________

About a year and a half ago, I received an email from a friend: Joćo Magalhaes (President of the Portuguese Reiki Association).

He was looking for a copy of the Reiki Ryoho No Shiori.

Happily I was able to provide him with details of a website* where he could acquire a Japanese-language copy of the booklet
(which has been available for purchase on line for more than a decade).

Joćo arranged to have the booklet translated into English, and kindly sent me a copy back in January of this year.

More importantly, he is making the translation freely available to the entire Reiki Community.

A copy of this interesting little booklet can be downloaded HERE

Thank you
Joćo.

NOTE:
The Eagle-eyed may notice a slight anomaly at the end of the 'Introduction' to the 'Shiori.

It is 'signed':  Chairman Toyokazu Kazuwa

This should actually read: Chairman Houichi Wanami

It is an easy error to make.

It is commonly the case that Japanese kanji characters can be read in several different ways.

In the original text it says: 会長和 波豊一

会長 is kaicho (chairman / president)

The characters:和波 can indeed be read as 'Kazuwa'
but also as Wanami (which is correct here)

Likewise,   豊一 can be read as both Toyokazu and Houichi
