CHUJIRO AND KIYOE HAYASHI SAIL TO HAWAII

- September 1937

.

On Friday, 24th September, 1937, Chujiro Hayashi and his daughter, Kiyoe, set sail from Yokahama on the M. S. 'Chichibu Maru'.

On Saturday, 2nd October, the ship docked in Honolulu.

The pair would remain in Hawaii for approximately 4 months 3 weeks, during which time they would accompany Hawayo Takata on a lecture tour to promote the art of Reiki Healing...

The Chichibu Maru

During the 1930's the Chichibu Maru regularly sailed between Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kobe, Yokohama, Honolulu,
Los Angeles and San Francisco, and occasionally also called at Nagasaki, Hong Kong and Manila.

It is interesting that, under the section for 'Calling or Occupation' Chujiro is listed as a 'Master of Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu'*, and not as an M.D.

Though I feel we must not fall into the trap of reading too much into this observation.

While some might consider this to be 'proof' that he had never been a doctor, I would suggest that all we can properly infer here is that
Chujiro Hayashi was not practicing as a doctor at this specific point in time.
